Due Thursday November 2, 2023 by 11:00 pm

Must Read Everything:

Reply to at least two classmate’s posts, applying the RISE Model for Meaningful Feedback

I will also show an example below of how the response needs to be addressed.

Here’s an example of how the response should look. Please don’t copy it.

The response to the classmate need to be just like this.

Example Response (Response Needs to be writen just like the response below No copying)

RISE Feedback:

REFLECT: I concur with “Action plans should reflect the type of services that are needed and have an idea of the expected outcome of the services” because it is in line with Hatch and Hartline’s intentional school counseling guidelines in regards to determining students needs.

INQUIRE: Can you further explain what “closing-the-gap action plans” are?

SUGGEST: I encourage you to revisit Hatch and Hartline’s MTMDSS tier interventions in order to add a citation that would illustrate your example on bullying prevention efforts.

ELEVATE: What if you re-purposed “For example, after a needs assessment, the school is having problems with bullying” as “Following Trish Hatch’s MTMDSS tier based interventions, if the school is having problems with bullying, after a needs assessment, we could… citation…”  for a more weighted argument?

Response 1- Laura

Describe your experiences and your role in building relationships with teachers, parent(s)/guardian(s), administrators, staff, and outside agencies.

As a future school counselor, building relationships with teachers, parents, administrators, staff and outside agencies is imperative. The relationships that are built will foster a collaborative and supportive environment that will positively impact the students. I’ve collaborated with teachers when a student is in need of a restorative conference. I have also assisted meetings with my supervising counselor, to go over behavior concerns or academics and provide resources and ways to overcome any difficulties. Family involvement and collaboration is also crucial. I’ve been involved in various parent meetings which ensured that the student was on a path to overall success in and outside of the classroom. During my internship and experience working at different schools, I have proactively established relationships with the school social workers, psychologists, nurse and admin.  This network of professionals allows us to address the diverse needs of our students more effectively, enhancing our ability to support their development. For instance, I have conducted check-ins with students who attended a suicide prevention presentation. If any of these students expressed that they were triggered or had strong emotional reactions, it was important to provide them with the necessary support and referrals to the social worker to ensure their emotional well-being and safety.

Response 2- Amelia

  • Describe strategies you have tried that worked well or did not work well.

This Saturday along with the Wellness and Community Center Staff and CWA, We held a “Saturday Brunch with Student Support” This was started to support parents and students who are facing barriers to get to school. We provided breakfast, parent presentation on ACE’s (Adverse Childhood Experiences) I also presented an activity on attendance with the students to demonstrate to parents how missing school impacts learning, the activity was called “washing the elephant.”   It uses the “I do, we do, you do” teaching method. If you want to see what it would look like it’s on the Attendance Works Website. We invited 10 families, and we had 3 show up. It was worth it because we are building a positive connection with parents and also providing valuable information. Parents really enjoyed the ACE’s prestation. We did have to call the morning of, and we even had to go pick up a family. What we will be able to provide next time is use Title 1 funds to get transportation for the families. Also, if any are Mckinney Vento, we can use funds to pay for Lyft. This is new program we are offering that is positive and provides parents and students with the opportunity to make up attendance as well.
