SUGGEST: I encourage you to revisit Hatch and Hartline’s MTMDSS tier interventions in order to add a citation that would illustrate your example on bullying prevention efforts.

Response 1- Stacy
How is qualitative studies used as assessment data for improving student achievement and classroom performance? Since data is gathered through many tools such as interviews and observations, we can use these types of data gathering to learn about student attainment, connections, student engagement, and teaching techniques. Through data being gathered in qualitative research, as school counselors, we can advocate for improvement in areas in the classroom where needs need to be targeted and met and this is how we can help classroom performance.
What types of data collection are used in qualitative studies? In qualitative studies, data is gathered by directly obtaining information from the source (with permission), and some techniques are used through observation, interviews, and document and artifact review. All data gathering is rich and purposeful, and these selections of data can include people, documents, and events (McMillan, 2016).
How may the data be used for program evaluation in applied settings? The qualitative research approach plays a very powerful role in program evaluation because the data collected provides information on how programs operate and having that data can be useful to modify a program if needed. Through Qualitative studies, such as a case study, we can have a group of people (participants) who share the same educational setting, and share ideas opinions, and thoughts about an intentional education topic that needs to be studied and addressed. For me, one of the great benefits of data collected in qualitative studies is its high application to participants and current circumstances that happen in real life in our education world. These types of research can be used to comprehend an occurrence in richness by collecting data from other participants as well as learning new experiences from the communication and data obtained from all participants.

- How is qualitative studies used as assessment data for improving student achievement and classroom performance?
- Qualitative studies can be used as assessment data tools for improving student achievement and classroom performance by providing in-depth insights and understanding into the learning process and student experiences. I have observed the school counselor at my internship site conduct surveys to generate interest in a particular career technical program and have also observed focus groups to gather valuable data. There are many methods to obtain data that help to identify patterns, strengths, and weaknesses in teaching practices, curriculum design, and student engagement. When research is used in the field for observations, interviews, and collecting documents it is important to identify an appropriate role, obtain permission, and establish a suitable rapport (McMillan, 2021).

- Qualitative studies typically use data collection methods such as interviews, focus groups, observations, and document analysis (McMillan, 2021). These methods of research allow educators to gather information pertaining to student’s learning and behaviors. This valuable data can be used for program evaluation for instructional decision-making, curriculum modifications, and the development of targeted interventions to enhance student achievement and classroom performance. Most importantly, data can provide information on the effectiveness and impact of a program. It can be used to assess whether the program is achieving the intended outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven decisions for program modifications.
