Reply to at least two classmate’s posts, applying the RISE Model for Meaningful Feedback
I will also show an example below of how the response needs to be addressed.
Here’s an example of how the response should look. Please don’t copy it.
The response to the classmate need to be just like this.
Example Response (Response Needs to be writen just like the response below No copying)
RISE Feedback:
REFLECT: I concur with “Action plans should reflect the type of services that are needed and have an idea of the expected outcome of the services” because it is in line with Hatch and Hartline’s intentional school counseling guidelines in regards to determining students needs.
INQUIRE: Can you further explain what “closing-the-gap action plans” are?
SUGGEST: I encourage you to revisit Hatch and Hartline’s MTMDSS tier interventions in order to add a citation that would illustrate your example on bullying prevention efforts.
ELEVATE: What if you re-purposed “For example, after a needs assessment, the school is having problems with bullying” as “Following Trish Hatch’s MTMDSS tier based interventions, if the school is having problems with bullying, after a needs assessment, we could… citation…” for a more weighted argument?

Describe an area(s) that you would like to explore further and/or develop your skills further.
I want to further develop my skills by engaging in virtual training platforms that can help me with my career. During my internship, my site supervisor, Mr. R, stressed the importance of being proactive about training platforms. He has mentioned the importance of learning while I am at the school site and empowering myself by using virtual platforms outside of school that will help me reach my goal of completing my intern hours and growing my skill set. Mr. R. says that it will be up to me to continue my education when I begin my career. One of the best platforms he has introduced me to is ASCA University. ASCA University has a broad range of training for school counselors and interns. One that I am engaged in now is Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Training (DEI). I signed up for it a while ago and I have finally begun to get into it. It is self-paced and easy to access. This training is free through ASCA University and is worth 50 hours towards my intern hours. For a small fee, I can earn graduate credits, which will help me earn more money when I begin my career. I have found myself looking for more virtual training that I can do on my own time. I believe that I will have more knowledge that I can use in my career as a result of these trainings.

Describe areas of development through practice; how have you demonstrated strength in these areas?
An area of strength for me has been my time management skills. The broad job responsibilities of a counselor in working with parents, admin, school faculty and staff, community residents, broad members, and students can become a time eating monster. I have really developed a system for myself in the morning and at the end of the day to dedicate time for planning out the day (calendar, meetings, trainings, classroom lessons, sessions, etc.) and inputting data into PowerSchool. Throughout my day I may create a small “To Do” list as a reminder for my end of day time. Of course, I know there are some days this doesn’t go as planned but staying up to date as much as possible really is vital to my time. A trick I have learned is to schedule one on one and small groups earlier in my week so if something does come up and I can’t meet I can reschedule it later in the week rather than skip a week. This seems to be working for me the best because I do try to leave Fridays open since my students earn fun Friday with me or free time minutes in my room. Fridays are my reschedule days if needed. I also try to use my Friday mornings to prepare for the week ahead, creating lessons, activities, and planning the implementation of interventions. Getting into the habit of good time management is vital to this profession as I have seen and heard from my colleagues it’s hard to catch up when you get to far behind or can seem overwhelming when you’re not organized. After a while this will become a habit which I hope will benefit not only my school counseling program but my self-care as well.
