The purpose of this assignment is to understand the value of cultural diversity. When people of different perspectives come together as a team, we learn and grow in our development and knowledge. Understanding each other’s culture and perspective allows the team to be collaborative and highly performing.
For this assignment, you are an international manager of a virtual team for a parent organization that is based in the United States. The team members are new to each other and only recognize names because of emails. Because the team members do not know each other, you must develop a plan to build trust among the team. Your task is to determine the native country profile of each team member. Then, determine the cultural challenges and benefits this team will face. You do not need to make recommendations at this time. Focus on the cultural relationships. The team consists of the following members:
- Val – a Romanian citizen living in the United Kingdom
- Aiko – a Japanese citizen living in China
- Ming Tsai ‐ a Chinese citizen living in Mexico
- Ana Maria – a Colombian citizen living in Spain
- Yourself – an American citizen living in the United States
