Respond to Karen Post

Hello class and welcome to English 2 my name is Karen Howell I am going for my bachelors in psychology and addictions. I have two beautiful children my son is 17, in the 11th grade and my daughter’s 9 and in 3rd. The first thing that came to my mind was when my niece’s father was taking her to Disney World along with the rest of his family. At that time, I knew what my job was, it was to convince him that he needed me to go or wanted me to go. I was around 12 or 13 at the time, which would make my niece around 8 or 9, she looked up to me and I was going to use that love to help convince him of the benefits of having me there, but me being the ex-wife’s little sister my job was cut out for me. I explained to him that it would be beneficial for him to take me not only to be the best guide but also knew the ropes enough to be able to ride every ride with a maximum wait time of 25 minutes or less and every show I could almost guarantee they would be able to see being from Florida born and raised I knew the tricks of Disney. I even went as far as having my little niece tell her dad that she would miss me if she was away from me for that long of a period. I used a bunch of different persuasive strategies. The first one was I appealed to his wants because who does not want to see every show and be able to ride every ride in one day. When I talked to him, I showed him nothing, but confidence and I was very persistent. I never let up. I would tell my little niece all the time how much I would miss her if she were gone, I just really wanted to go to make sure she would stay safe and that I would not feel comfortable without me being around her being she was going to be so far from me. My little niece constantly told her dad how much she loved me and how much she really would love for me to go on vacation with them. My consistency made her very consistent also. so every time he come to pick her up or drop her off I was right there to constantly be in his ear reminding him of how much fun him and his family would have if they didn’t have to worry about making all the shows and being able to ride all the rides all they had to do was take me with them and I would show them the way. I appealed to their wants and was confident in my speaking to him of what I could do or show them at Disney. Consistency played a crucial role, and I was very consistent all the time, never letting up and that was how I won my argument at an early age and was able to go to Disney World. Thank you for your time class. I hope everybody has a wonderful week. Thanks again Karen Howell
