 Based on Article II of the Constitution, in order to become president, one must be a natural-born citizen, 35 years of age, and a resident of the United States for 14 years. The 22nd Amendment, ratified in 1951, limits the number of terms a president can be elected to office to two terms. Overall, these requirements are usually seen as being quite minimal.
