As a manager, it is critical for you to understand the types of business information systems available to support business operations, management, and strategy. As of 2021, these include, but are certainly not limited to the following:
- Supply Chain Management (SCM)
- Accounting Information System
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
- Decision Support Systems (DSS)
- Enterprise Resource Management (ERP)
- Human Resource Management
These types of systems support critical business functions and operations that every organization must manage. The effective manager understands the purpose of these types of systems and how they can best be used to manage the organization’s data and information.
BY DAY 7
Submit a 2- to 3-page evaluation of the articles you found in which you address the following:
- Identify an example of how your selected business information system could affect, or is already affecting, the organization where you work, or one with which you are familiar.
- Summarize what you have learned about the importance of this business information system and why managers need to understand how this business information system can be used to the organization’s advantage.
- Be sure to include appropriate citations that reference the articles you selected as well as any other sources to support your analysis.
- Along with each citation, include a brief paragraph (approximately 2–3 sentences) explaining the relevance of the source to your evaluation.
Refer to the Week 1 Assignment Rubric for specific grading elements and criteria. Your Instructor will use this grading rubric to assess your work.
