Due Friday September 1, 2023 by 11:00 pm

Must Read Everything:

Reply to at least two classmate’s posts, applying the RISE Model for Meaningful Feedback

I will also show an example below of how the response needs to be addressed.

Here’s an example of how the response should look. Please don’t copy it.

The response to the classmate need to be just like this.

Example Response (Response Needs to be writen just like the response below No copying)

RISE Feedback:

REFLECT: I concur with “Action plans should reflect the type of services that are needed and have an idea of the expected outcome of the services” because it is in line with Hatch and Hartline’s intentional school counseling guidelines in regards to determining students needs.

INQUIRE: Can you further explain what “closing-the-gap action plans” are?

SUGGEST: I encourage you to revisit Hatch and Hartline’s MTMDSS tier interventions in order to add a citation that would illustrate your example on bullying prevention efforts.

ELEVATE: What if you re-purposed “For example, after a needs assessment, the school is having problems with bullying” as “Following Trish Hatch’s MTMDSS tier based interventions, if the school is having problems with bullying, after a needs assessment, we could… citation…”  for a more weighted argument?

Research Guided Prompt: REFRAME

Why is it useful to reframe a question or issue with a student?

Reframing a question or issue with a student may be useful to help them think of it in a believable, not-so-negative connotation or tone. For example, if a student is worried about attending a party, they can reframe it into an alternative thought instead of the worry thought. The worry thought exhibits fear and nervousness, while the alternative thought is more positive.

  • Worry thought: What if no one at the party talks to me?
  • Alternative thought: I can think of at least one thing to say to someone at the party.

What are the necessary “ground rules” that need to be established in a group counseling session?

  • Confidentiality – what is spoken in the group stays in the group.
  • Respect – Sharing one at a time allows people to voice their thoughts and opinions.
  • Conflict Resolution – If a conflict arises, group members should know the rules for navigating it.
  • Topic – The topic should be shared beforehand to allow members not to feel surprised. For instance, a student may not feel comfortable discussing grief and should be fully aware of what’s occurring.
  • Expectations – regarding time and duration of meetings, schedule/agenda of what the group will do during time together, and introductions of who will lead and co-lead.
  • Goals – Discuss and determine what the purpose of the group is and what they’ll achieve.

Classmate response 2- Christian

Describe an area(s) that you would like to explore further and/or develop your skills further. (PROMPT)

Within my practicum & internship experience this year, I have used programs & different online tools in order to help with my supervisor to analyze data, extract data, build schedules, check schedules, & help students where they need to be helped. I am still learning how to navigate these systems because their interfaces are foreign to me. My unfamiliarity with programs has resulted in me not working as efficient, and slowing down the process all together. An area that I would like to further explore is “school counselor technology literacy”. I made this term up, but in order to work faster as well as efficiently requires me to gather more experience in these areas. I hope that with more time in this program I can learn how to work efficiently in these technological areas.
