For this reading response, please watch the following film, Robot Carnival on Youtube:LinkLinks to an external site.Salesmen

visual media is sometimes vastly misunderstood as an artform that is full of distinct choices and narratives. Sometimes, this is easier to note in animated works, as their obviously ‘created’ nature becomes more apparent to us than live-action film sometimes.

It is important to remember that in film and television, or in any visual medium such as paintings, comic books, video games, and more, everything the audience sees, hears, and interacts with are the result of distinct and specific choices made by the creator(s) of the object. In films, this is often talked about in reference to things like camera framing, angle, point of view, music choices, and more.

for this reading response, select one of the shorts from the film Robot Carnival, and in 500 words or more, respond to the following prompt:

How does the short utilize the visual medium of animation to tell the distinct story it wishes to convey? What does it do to help the audience understand the concept and idea of the story it wants to tell? Does it feature dialogue, and if so, how does that play into the understanding of the story? If the short only features music or sound effects, then how does that impact your ability to think about and interpret the story as it is told to you?
