Sloppy Police Work Is the Primary Reason for Wrongful Convictions

Hello Everyone,

I believe sloppy police work will lead to wrongful convictions, just as with any job mistakes in the workplace cause a domino effect of problems to occur and will cause further issues for others. The police are the eyes and ears of the courts they have to be able to keep a complete and detailed record of an incident to ensure all facts are brought before the court and jury to ensure a proper trial. If an officer relies on assumptions and do not dig deeper into an incident and arrest an individual based on conjecture this usually leads to wrongful convictions and can ruin a person’s life over hearsay. i say this is the primary reason because the decision to make the arrest is at the hands of the officers.

In your response to your peers, consider how well they justified their position, making use of available resources. Consider the following questions in your response posts:

  • Did they support their position convincingly using appropriate resources?
  • Which of their points make the most sense to you, even if you made your case for the opposing viewpoint?
