According to Bostrom’s three options for simulation hypothesis, the first one is that almost all of humanity goes extinct before reaching technological maturity, the second one is that the ancestors that are creating this simulation loose interest in continuing the simulation, and the third is that we are all definitely living a simulation. I think the most plausible option would have to be the first one. I don’t think humanity will reach that level of technology for the foreseeable future. The second option seems to be the next plausible option because there is no point to continuing a simulation for virtually fake humans. Most people would lose interest in continuing a pointless project so it would make sense for them to stop the simulations. The last option is the least plausible because there is too much evidence of real life, the present lack of technology, and just a lack of purpose for a simulated reality. I do find the idea of a simulation an interesting concept that most people would be rightfully inclined to investigate further. I personally would not investigate the concept further simply because I do not think it is worth my time. What happens if we find out we are indeed in a simulation? Will the rest of our simulated life be as fulfilling? What exactly is the next step or plan after our discovery? I am content with the reality that I know and experience. There is no need to ruin a good life by investigating a concept that can potentially tarnish the purpose of life as we know it.
