James is not allowed to celebrate birthdays in the classroom for religious reasons. The rest of the 23 students in the class are allowed and excited to celebrate their birthdays in the classroom. James has expressed to you that he is sad when he does not get to participate in birthday celebrations in the classroom. How can you address James’ feelings and support the needs of all students?
